A way of life at Waldeck
The Importance of Sustainable Food Sources at Waldeck Farm
At Waldeck Farm, sustainability is more than just a concept. It’s a way of life. Located right next to Waldeck Lodge, the farm is committed to producing fresh, high-quality food while respecting the delicate Namibian ecosystem. Our field-to-table philosophy ensures that everything on your plate is thoughtfully sourced, whether it’s eggs from our free-range chickens and quails, homegrown vegetables from our greenhouse or herbs and lavender cultivated in our gardens. By prioritizing sustainable agriculture, we reduce our carbon footprint, minimize food waste and offer guests a truly authentic farm-to-table dining experience.

Our Greenhouse
Sustainability and self-sufficiency are an integral part of life at Waldeck. In our greenhouse we cultivate a variety of seasonal vegetables from sweetcorn and tomatoes to cucumbers, butternut squash and peppers all harvested fresh from our garden. When in season fresh fruits such as strawberries are an absolute delight. Citrus trees have been planted and will in time offer their fruit to complement our kitchen’s creations. Every ingredient reflects our commitment to living in harmony with nature. It’s the thoughtful simplicity that defines the Waldeck experience.
Farm to Table
At Waldeck the connection to nature is real and deeply respected. On 16,000 hectares of pristine wilderness we care for and protect the wildlife that calls this land home.
As part of a responsible conservation approach selected game is sustainably harvested to support biodiversity and ecological balance. Every animal is treated with respect when it is taken. The result is high quality ethically sourced meat provided not only to our guests but also shared within the Waldeck Community. In a culture where meat plays a central role it’s essential to provide it consciously, locally and with purpose.
Our field to table philosophy brings our guests closer to the land through honest grounded cuisine that reflects the values and rhythms of life at Waldeck.

Our Butchery
Part of our farm to table philosophy includes processing game directly on the farm. Waldeck has its own butchery where meat is handled with care and expertise by a skilled local butcher. From here it is stored in a dedicated cold room and distributed to both the lodge and the wider Waldeck community ensuring freshness traceability and the highest quality at every stage.
From Coop to Table
At Waldeck we believe in knowing where our food comes from and raising it with care.
Our free-range chickens and quails provide fresh eggs daily including delicate quail eggs that often grace our breakfast and dinner tables. Selected chickens are also part of our farm to table philosophy ensuring the highest quality meat raised naturally and with respect. It’s honest and wholesome food produced right here on our land in harmony with the same quiet luxury that defines everything we do.

Farm Maintenance
Caring for 16,000 acres of wild Namibian landscape is both a privilege and a responsibility.
At Waldeck a dedicated farm team works tirelessly to maintain the land and its infrastructure. From roads and water systems to fences to protect both wildlife and boundaries. Especially during rainy season when storms can cause significant damage their work is essential to keep the farm operational and safe.
The greenhouse, orchards, buildings and water points all require significant and constant care as do animals. In the dry season selected species are supported with supplemental feed ensuring their wellbeing throughout the year. Every detail matters because the true wilderness can only thrive when it is respected, nurtured and maintained with heart.
Waldeck Community
Behind the experience of Waldeck lies a strong, supportive community – the people who make everything possible. Just a short drive from the lodge, the Waldeck Farm area is home to the operational heart of the property. At its centre is the Hangar: the meeting point for the farm team, the workshop hub and the base for all maintenance and conservation efforts. Here, machinery is stored and serviced, tools are prepared and vehicles for both game drives and farm work are kept ready.
Surrounding the Hangar are homes for the farm and lodge managers, as well as staff housing – including the newly built Staff Village, where every team member has a private space. At the heart of the village lies the Community Kitchen: a space to gather, share meals and feel at home. Two dedicated cooks prepare food daily, using ingredients from the greenhouse and meat from our own butchery.
Waldeck is more than a lodge. It’s a family. We care for our people as we care for our land – with respect, responsibility and a deep belief in shared purpose.
